this was considered a crime scene. just hours ago we contacted oakland police. >>> the city of oakland says it has a new crime fighting strategy and comes after the department avoided a federal takeover. the big name being brought in from los angeles and what he's planning to do to lower the city's crime rate. >>> chp still at the scene of a deadly crash. it all began with a traffic stop for speeding. christien kafton is near 580 with more. >> reporter: this deadly crash happened last night at about 11:20. as you said chp still on the scene conducting an investigation. if you look there in the distance you can seat silver bmw in the road there and in the distance there a black lincoln. that bmw smashed into that lincoln killing one of the persons inside that vehicle and then tried to run from the copping. california highway patrol tells us this started as a regular pull over. as a stop for speeding. the driver had been spotted speeding but the chp had the car pulled over at 90th. the officers got back into their patrol car and began following the bmw. they lost sight of that car momentarily. when

the center of recent crimes and now they are writing to city leaders to ask for more police protection. >>> pg&e prompted evacuations in eastern contra costa. crews dug up an area in brentwood this morning. they found a league and last night crews evacuated three homes and told others to stay indoors. we have a reporter on the way to brentwood and shed have a report in just a half hour. >>> investigators found it at industrial boulevard. they found the man was killed who was in his late 5 ross. the peoples in mustang were not hurt and they are trying to figure out whether or not alcohol was involved. >>> it happened at 8:40 last night. he was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive. the shooting was gang related and he is expected to survive. >>> they ran through the mall knocking over signs. several reported gunshots but they believe the people falling to the floor led to false reports. >> i was imagining somebody was done and people were coming to threaten us. >> many stores went into lock down. no shots were fired and the mall reopened about an hour later. >> teens in the bra

this morning some san rafael city employees are being paid to car pool or take mass transit. starting tomorrow the city of san rafael will pay almost 370 employees to find eco friendly ways to get to new york. employees who use mass transit will get a $20 clipper card. workers whores or buy an electric card will get a $100 sty fan. >>> people say now is the time to buy. tomorrow california's sales tax will go up one quarter percent statewide. it will increase to 7.5%. it may be small in comparison but some shoppers figure they will save a few extra dollars while they can. >> with the tax hikes and what have it, it will be more expensive. so why not save now?
